The Jabari Society of Bergen County is a chapter of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters. The name Jabari is derived from the Swahili noun meaning brave one. From the day of Jabari’s inception in 1993, the mission has remained the same. Our purpose is to maintain professional competence, educational awareness, community concern and the establishment of unity and brotherhood within our communities. We dedicate ourselves to keep alive the interest of all fire service personnel current and future, of educational or employment opportunity within our community and fire departments.
